Exploring, Problem Solving and Practicing in Math

We have been exploring different ways we can create equal groups using concrete material and visuals. The students were asked to create as many different groups 24 counters.  The students then took photos and blogged their findings.  This is a way of the students extending their understanding of what multiples are; how numbers have different multiples of equal groups; and connections between different multiples and numbers.  It has been great to see the students use their understanding to help them learn their times tables.

It has also been wonderful to see our class being self-directed.  They have identified the times tables they now need to learn and have been using a variety of methods to learn them.  Some students have been completing speed tests to improve their recall speed, while others have been using concrete materials or online practice games.    Well done Worldly Wizards on taking ownership of your learning and being so dedicated and self-directed,
