  • Physical Wellbeing and being a researcher - Our class are learning how to be good researchers.  Good researchers do these things: use key-words; use a variety sources of information such as websites, books, experts, teachers and students, etc; construct meaningful questions; record our information and add links to the sources.  This week we have researching about what physical wellbeing means for people our age.

  • Reading -  This week we tried a new strategy for borrowing books from the CMC so that we are more inspired as readers.  Each week we will work with a small group to decide upon a theme for our book borrowing. Some of the ideas/themes this week were...mystery books set around the world, mysteries stories that involve thieves, stories that include technology, books on natural disasters , horror / scary stories, and stories about sports.  We are hoping that having books in themes that we are interested in might inspire us to read more books and help guide us in making decisions on books to read.

  • Writing - We began looking into the 3 different writing prompts for our new writing sample.  We can choose to write an informative paper, a narrative or an opinion piece. Next week we will have 90 minutes to write our samples.

  • Birthday - Today we helped Zayden celebrate his birthday.  We got storm-trooper cupcakes.  Zayden’s birthday cake was shaped like BB-8 from Star Wars.  We had the dilemma of…..to have our cake or eat it?  You will have to ask me what I chose.

Buddy Reading Time - we got to discuss the book we have been reading with a buddy.  We looked at the techniques and writing tools that the authors used to make their books more entertaining.
